This song is a few years old, but I have not been able to get it out of my head over the last couple of weeks. During our most recent visits to the Gypsy village, we had the opportunity to share a couple bible stories leading to fruitful discussions and a hunger for more.   More specifically, we told the story about the lady touching the fringe of Jesus’s garment resulting in immediate healing, as well as the story about Jairus begging Jesus to come back to his house, as his only daughter was dying. After Jairus and Jesus received a report that the daughter had died, Jairus still continues leading Jesus back to his house, where Jesus then reaches out his hand to the 12-year-old daughter, tells her to arise, and life returns to her body. In both stories, the people who witnessed these miracles were amazed.

I love how this song describes both of these miracles found in Luke 8 and how it also includes a similar prayer that I have been praying in recent weeks. The words of this song are simple, yet elicit much worship and ask for more of our greatest need – Jesus.   With the Christmas season upon us, I pray that our gaze is fixed upward, and that we are asking for more of Jesus. Drawing near to Him and begging for more of Him. Only He can truly satisfy and produce real joy in our hearts…no other gift this season will be able to do that. And as the song says, I want more of His glory in this place – Central Asia.

I hope you enjoy the song, too.

Lyrics:

I’ve touched the hem of Your garments
And I have felt the leading of Your hand
But today, my eyes look much higher to see the face of the great “I am”
I’ve touched the hem of Your garments
And I have felt the leading of Your hand
But today, my eyes look much higher to see the face of the great “I am”

So more of You Jesus, more of Your face, more of Your glory in this place
More of You Jesus, more of Your face, more of Your glory in this place

I‘ve touched the hem of Your garments
And I have felt the leading of Your hand
Oh but today, my eyes look much higher to see the face of the great “I am”

I’m longing for more, and more, and more
More of You Jesus, more of Your face.
