I do apologize for the site being temporarily down, but it was necessary to do a few security related concerns. I am hopeful that these problems will not occur again, but if so, wisdom may dictate me password protecting this site. If this is the case, I will do my best to distribute the password as widely as possible via email, but if you are missed, do not hesitate dropping me an email and I would be more than happy to share with you the password. I know it may be a little inconvenient, but due this country/region being considered “highly sensitive,” it may be a necessary measure to have in place.

All of that to say, I am so thankful that God is sovereign. Nothing is a surprise to God. Not.one.thing. We may be caught off guard, we may encounter seemingly impossible situations, and we may fail to recognize God is fully and completely in control, BUT, that in no way takes away from the fact that He is still sovereign. Trusting in his sovereignty brings us peace, quiets the anxiety in our hearts, and assures us that relinquishing our own control is the best plan for our lives. I often have to preach to myself that He is seated, in Heaven, in complete control, not pacing back and forth as if He is worried. The Word says, “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool…” (Isaiah 66:1) and “Who is like the Lord our God, who is SEATED on high, who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?” (Psalm 113:5). God is not worried or anxious or lacking the knowledge necessary for us to navigate through life and the various situations we face.

In recent weeks, I have encountered a few situations where this truth has been absolutely foundational, and I faced the choice to either take God at His Word, or worry. I wish I could say I always choose the former option.

In October, it was a huge answer to prayer receiving a one-year visa, however, a couple of weeks ago, the company my visa is attached to was a day away from being sold. This would have resulted in my visa being revoked and me having to leave the country almost immediately. But, even in the midst of that uncertainly, God was sovereign. The owner has decided against selling his company for now, which is yet other answer to prayer.

As news stations, websites and newspapers are becoming increasingly flooded with alarming reports from this region (and surrounding regions) about extremist activity, God is sovereign.

As one of the places I have been serving at has come under some very intense scrutiny by officials, resulting in all foreigners needing to temporarily disassociate with them, God is sovereign.

In December, when the Home Group I was attending collapsed for various reasons, God was sovereign. It was not long before I was able to find another Home Group and was welcomed with open arms.

I love that God is sovereign over every single thing, in spite of the choices we have made and the circumstances of our individual lives. He never changes and his sovereignty is constant even in our constant sin. Therefore, His sovereignty is enables us to trust in Him, In Him alone, who is seated on the throne above.

  1. Well spoken Andrea. What is wonderful is that you have discovered these truths at a young age and will continue to be grown in your walk with Him. For myself, it is one reason I am thankful for my “many” years. Now in my sixties, I have so many examples of God’s faithfulness to look back upon over my life. I can return to those times when facing another trial or challenge, recalling He has never left me and His way is best. Keep strong in the Lord. Warmly, Patti

    1. Hi Patti,

Thank you, once again, for your encouraging note. I think I would have to say God’s sovereignty has been one of the most influential truths in my life, especially over this past year. I think because there is so much uncertainty surrounding us every day and never knowing what the future may have in store for us, believing that God is in control over all of it, and HE can be trusted, results in a peace that surpasses all understanding. And leaves me asking Him for more faith and the grace to follow him through it all. Thank you for praying, and please do pass on a warm hello from me to your family.
